This honor is awarded to schools where a high percentage of students demonstrate proficiency in cursive writing, reinforcing the importance of foundational literacy skills and written communication.
Sugarmill Elementary School's recognition as a Military Flagship School represents one of the Georgia Department of Education's highest honors for schools serving military-connected students. This designation is award to schools that go above and beyond in providing a supportive, responsive environment for military families through strong partnerships, transition support, and a deep understanding of the unique challenges those students may face.
District leadership emphasized that the widespread recognition is a direct result of the commitment seen across every school.
This is something our entire community can be proud of. To have nearly every school recognized by the state is not something that happens by chance. It reflects the dedication of our teachers, the leadership within our schools, and above all, the hard work of our students. It shows that across Camden County, excellence is not the exception; it is the standard.
Superintendent Woods' visit served as both a celebration of these accomplishments and a powerful affirmation of the work happening throughout the district. With recognition spanning nearly every campus, Camden County Schools continues to demonstration what is possible when a system is unified in its focus on student success.
