Students in 2nd grade recently read the story "The Idea Jar" by Adam Lehrhaupt. The story is about a teacher's jar where story ideas are stored. Throughout the story, the ideas come to life creating chaos until they are combined into new creative ideas! After reading the story, students were able to use ideas from their own minds, or from Mrs. Mowbray's idea jar to create their own stories. The lesson also focused on different types of storytelling, including writing a story, speaking a story, and even drawing a story! The students showed off their creativity and imagination with this fun activity.

On Tuesday, April 21st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students at Mamie Lou Gross Elementary had a special visit from Micah Morris. A Camden County native and 2021 graduate of Camden County High School, Micah is preparing to enter the NFL Draft this week with hopes of playing professionally.
During his visit, he spoke with students about the importance of hard work, time management, and learning from challenges. He encouraged them to believe in themselves, trust the effort they’ve put into preparing for the upcoming Georgia Milestones test, and—of course—listen to their teachers.
Micah also took time to answer students’ questions, sharing personal experiences about overcoming obstacles like shoulder surgery, handling tough losses, and growing from mistakes. He spoke about the influence of his father—his hero—and how watching his father’s work ethic taught him the true meaning of perseverance.
It was an amazing opportunity for our students to hear firsthand how dedication and determination can turn dreams into reality—not by wishing for success, but by working for it.
Thank you to Mrs. Terrie Walker, 5th grade teacher, for organizing this special event for the students!

Our first graders had a "moo-velous" time exploring the wonders of farm life during their field trip to Incacheetoo Plantation and Petting Zoo! From meeting gentle animals, watching pig races, and enjoying hayrides, it was a day filled with fresh air and hands-on discovery.
Seeing the students' faces light up as they connected with nature was the best part of the trip. A huge thank you to Incacheetoo and our wonderful chaperones for making this such a memorable educational adventure! 🐮🐷🐐
